Do you love baseball? Even if not, are you looking forward to placing bets on baseball as the season is about to start?
For this, it is important to have at least a basic understanding of how baseball betting works. Here is how you can bet on baseball.
Baseball betting isn’t based on point spread but Moneyline betting. This means betting on the team you think will win the game and not on who wins it most of the time.

Moneyline Betting

While betting as per Moneyline, the bettor on Pinnacle Sport has two options i.e. either to bet on the favorites or the underdogs. Betting on favorites means betting on ones who will win the game, while placing bets on underdogs means betting on a team or player that loses the game.
The teams and players under favorites are indicated with the (-) sign, whereas those with underdogs are indicated with a (-) sign.
The number on these plus and minus signs will indicate what you will win if you bet $100. For instance, if the team kings are favorites with -300 and Lakers are underdogs with Moneyline +200
This means if you bet $100 on Lakers, you will win $200. On the other hand, if you bet on favorites with $100, you will have to risk $300 to win $100.
What to do when both the teams have a minus sign (like -105 vs -115)? In this case, the team with the smallest money line i.e. 105 is considered as a slight underdog.

Should You Bet On Underdogs Or Favourites?

A baseball betting tip from Pinnacle says one should bet against the public i.e. place a bet opposite to what most people will bet on. It is therefore recommended to bet on underdogs rather than on favorites as the odds of winning the bet are less, but the payout is more. You will end up winning more than you bet on. Whereas when betting on favorites, the payout is rather small and is not worth spending.
Total
Another way to put a bet on baseball games is Total. Total bets or over/under bets are the bets placed on both teams’ total.
A predicted total of each game is set by the oddsmakers. The bettors have to wager if the team will score less or more than the predicted total. The runs scored in extra innings are also taken into consideration under the total.
If the game ends exactly on the predicted total, the bets placed are simply refunded back.

Runline

Runline is another type of bet you can place in baseball betting. Under this, a standard runline is kept at 1.5, which acts as the base of betting.
Now, you are betting on a favorite Moneyline, it will be listed as -1.5 on the runline. This means the team has to win by a margin of 2 or more runs for you to win the bet.
On the other hand, if you are betting on underdogs, the money will be listed as +0.5 on the runline, which means the team has to either win the game or lose by just 1 run to make you win the bet.
In runline, betting on favorites are favored more than on underdogs.
